  • A "Secret" Movie

So I saw Transformers the other day.  It was a pretty decent movie except the director bought into the ill conceived idea that shaking the camera all around would somehow make the action scenes more intense.  I mean it's supposed to be a special effects movie... not something to make me dizzy.  Shaking the camera DOES NOT ...

  • Lot's o' stuff...

Man, I've been busy, busy, busy... XboxFriends If you haven't taken a look at XboxFriends lately and your an Xbox Live gamer, you really should take the time to do so.  The version releases have stabilized somewhat and all systems seem to be pretty good to go.  Don't get me wrong, I still have a lot of work to do; but overall the ...

  • My Desk

Not sure that anyone really cares, but what the hell, here's a picture of my workspace at the house...

  • Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach

While out in L.A. the weekend before last (and yes, I didn't realize that that weekend happened to also be the weekend of E3) training with the legendary Larry Hartsell (a student of Bruce Lee, Dan Inosanto and Ed Parker), I ran into someone rather interesting while waiting in line at the airport Burger King to get some ...

  • The "Big Bad Wolf" visited me...

Yeah, the Big Bad Wolf came by my house late last night (errr... really early this morning) and tried to blow my house down.  The house is still standing since this little piggy had a house of brick. ;-) Though I need to call a roofer as the shingles on the side facing the wind didn't fair so well. :-(

  • Where Am I?

So that people can have an opportunity to meet me in person (man, does that sound vain or what?), I've added a 'meet cory smith' link to the top navigation.  I'll make every attempt to keep that up to date, so if you happen to be attending one of these events, be sure to stop by and say hi.

  • Missed working for Google by 3 months...

... and I'm really not all that upset. A little over a year ago, the radio automation software company I worked for was acquired by dMarc, a small startup focused on delivering advertising to radio stations through piggy-backing upon the radio automation software.  Shortly after being acquired, the previous owner (my boss) who was also ...

  • Holidays are over, back to work (as if it ever stopped)...

On top of it being the holidays, work, interacting with family, buying gifts, cooking turkey and the occasional Xbox 360 gaming session, I've been extremely busy working out the kinks with a new side project that is really starting to take shape. Of course, now that I've invested a significant amount of time I've discovered that there is a bit of ...

  • Semper Fidelis or "SEMPER FI!"

“Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have made a difference in the world.  Marines don't have that problem“ -- Ronald Reagan Many people that know me think that I'm anti-establishment and against “the man” by the way that I speak regarding various topics.  Some would even argue that I might ...

  • Reflecting on the past, Looking forward to the future...

These past couple of months have been extremely busy for me.  With work and extra-workular (yeah, I just made that up) activities, my postings here has taken a bit of a hit.  [Insert obligatory sentense here about how I'm going to get back to blogging on a regular basis.] So we have Visual Studio 2005 being released in a little over a ...
